Casio is the latest big company name to step into the green world. They have recently come out with a line of three different green watches that are all sustainable by way of their power source which is drawn from renewable energy such as solar power.

Perhaps the coolest of the three is the new limited edition G-Shock eco-friendly fashion piece that is of course GREEN in color. As with all other G-Shock watches made since 1983, the GREEN G-Shock is extremely durable, only this G-Shock is good for the environment too.

This particular watch comes in a box made of recycled paper and uses light sources to power itself and recharge its battery. If left in the dark, it turns off to conserve energy and then pops to life when shown the light. Casio says that the solar power of the sun is enough to power this watch even if there is no battery at all in the watch. Very cool and very green!

As strange as it may sound there is actually a company that has come up with a way to produce eco-friendly materials using nothing more than a vat of green tea. The company is called BioCouture and their research is making major headlines in the green movement world.

According to the company, they have been able to take a vat of green tea and mix it with certain bacterial cultures to produce these eco-friendly fibers in about two weeks time. From here they take the fibers and mold them to an existing dress to come up with a totally eco-friendly fashion.

EcoZeal.com thinks this kind of GREEN progressive thinking is just what the doctor ordered and hopes that more companies will follow suit. As for BioCouture, they hope to have a full dress grown from nothing more that liquid in the very near future. What a great time to be alive. Big time shoe maker Puma has bagged the typical idea of packaging their shoes in an effort to go green. The idea has merits and should catch on with other companies as well.

The idea is to use a bag on the outside of the partial box that the shoes come in and thus save the amount of cardboard needed to make complete box. Because the bag covers a box, the retailers will still be able to stack the half-bag, half-box packaging.

Puma is another in a long line of shoe companies going green with their packaging efforts. Shoe Company Timberland uses an eco-friendly box that is made up of recycled cardboard and Nike uses many recyclables as well. However, Puma seems to be the first major shoe company to conduct the ‘bag it’ method.

Score another victory for the eco-friendly fashion movement as now Hanes will be launching an all new eco-friendly line. The company will be airing a green commercial in some prime time sports including during American Idol.

The ad will tout Hanes’ new EcoSmart Fleece apparel which is made up of such post consumer products as recycled plastic bottles. But the green doesn’t stop there.

According to the company, their EcoSmart socks are now made with 55 percent recycled cotton fiber and the method being used to make Hanes boy’s and men’s undershirts are being conducted using renewable energy.
