Crops – organic cotton versus conventional cotton

cottonWhen it comes to clothing there is nothing more versatile than cotton. Cotton is then most comfortable, breathable, and usable material that they use to make clothing. So when it comes to organic and conventional cotton there are differences, but what are they?

Traditional cotton is heavily sprayed with pesticides to the tune of 30 to 40 times per season. While this makes for bug free cotton it also eventually makes for a barren field that cannot grow anything. This approach to growing cotton is not a very eco-friendly way to go about the process.

Organic cotton has to be grown in a fields that has been pesticide free for at least three years and this process offers a green solution to the problems that can arise with using so much pesticides.  Organic cotton is grown using farming methods of long ago. Because all natural resources must be used, it takes a lot more devotion and attention to grow a successful organic cotton crop. But the results are not only better for the specific area where the cotton is being grown, but it is better for the earth as a whole.

EcoZeal.comwant to remind everyone that when you see a tag that says ‘certified organic cotton’ that a lot had to go into that cotton in order for it to qualify as such. It may be a little pricier that conventional cotton, but a more eco-friendly fashion leads to a longer lasting earth for us all to enjoy.
