Eco-friendly rings - gold and otherwise
I am under no grand illusions that people are going to stop wearing gold jewelery, especially women that are going to get married. But there is a more eco-friendly way to go about obtaining your wedding ring and other gold jewelry as well.
There is a company called greenKarat that specializes in selling gold rings that use no new gold or diamonds, but rather recycled gold and diamonds. This is huge as according to the site mining of gold is pacing out at over 2,500 tons per year. This is unnecessary as there is enough gold already in existence to satisfy all of us.
While geenKarat is a great place to buy recycled jewelery, there are other alternatives as well. You can buy a number of used wedding rings off of sites like eBay and Amazon and many times you will be getting a great deal. Just be sure that you can return the ring if you get it appraised and find it is not what was advertised.
Still others are going for the total green look and buying rings made of wood or other more earth friendly materials. The point is, we all have options.
EcoZeal.com hopes that everyone reading this will consider buying recycled gold the next time gold fever strikes. Our planet can only take so much abuse and we all have to do our parts to ensure that it is around for many generations to come.
