Luxury Eco
The word “luxury” evokes images of private jets and massive diamonds - consumption on a grand scale.
“Eco – friendly?” The mind shifts to mountain bikes and Birkenstocks – not exactly haute couture.
Pioneering designer Linda Loudermilk is out to prove such perceptions outdated and prejudiced.
Beauty & Soul
Six years ago, having achieved top ranking in the fashion world, the designer had an epiphany. She realized that having her fashions appear on the runways of Paris was not enough. “I was creating beauty,” she says, “but beauty without soul.” Loudermilk wanted to make a difference in the world.
Back in the studio, she began to research and develop eco-friendly alternatives to the materials she had been working with. But not just any organic cotton or recycled fiber would do. As a top-echelon designer, she sought only fabrics fine and luxurious enough to satisfy the most elite and demanding consumer, made from natural sources such as soy and seaweed.
The result? A stunning collection of designer wear ranging from casual to formal – all created from textiles brought into being with both maximum sustainability and ultimate fashion in mind.
Luxury Eco
But Loudermilk didn’t stop there. She set out to encourage others to follow in her footsteps. She developed the “Luxury Eco” stamp of approval, an exclusive accreditation awarded only to the top few products, services or business practices in any given product category. It is reserved only for those few businesses who have achieved the pinnacle of excellence in attaining both sustainability and luxury status. Businesses wishing to be considered for approval must pass a stringent screening process and demonstrate ongoing commitment to excellence and stewardship.
Loudermilk’s fashions are available through brick-and-mortar stores and online locations including Beklina and Juno & Jove.
