Recycled eyeglasses makes everone see a little greener
Anyone who has had to have eyeglasses in their life time will be able to relate to this post. It seems that the older we get the worse off our eyes become. With a stronger prescription of eyeglasses comes the need for a whole new pair to be purchased.
What is often not considered is what gets done with your old pair. Some people like to keep them as a spare pair and others will simply toss them. In reality we should all be recycling them in order to be eco-friendly.
Some of the recycled eyeglasses will go to those who are less fortunate and could not otherwise afford eyeglasses. Still others will be refurbished and sold under the banner of ‘eco-friendly eyeglasses.’ Either way, your old eyeglasses get some more use and the Earth is spared some valuable resources.
There are many places across the country that will allow you to recycle your old eyeglasses for free and remember you will be helping someone in the end. If you can’t think of any places to recycle then ask your Optometrist.
